Covid 19 and Cyclone Amphan Relief

Civilian Welfare Foundation (Established May 2011) which focuses mainly on Gender, Disability and Child Education has come out all the way to change its course of action to support the society in these tough times in Bengal which got hit by both Pandemic and the Super Cyclone Amphan. In last 6 months more than 35 thousand people including people with disabilities, transgender individuals and migrant laborers were supported by Civilian Welfare foundation through Community kitchens , Ration kit /Sanitary kit distribution.

The project tried to address the basic necessities of the impoverished people affected by Lockdown and Amphan i.e food, water and Our involvement with marginalized communities have pointed out to certain facets distinctly- the disabled individuals,  transgender people and others who are subjected to daily discrimination are the most affected. They mostly are facing the adversities with greater difficulties due to societal discriminatory affairs. The unique angle of the project was that it involves the foundations’ primary beneficiaries the athletes with disabilities and transgender persons as resource person , field volunteers and as decision makers to run this inclusive relief work. 7 districts of West Bengal namely Birbhum, Nadia, Hooghly, Jalpaiguri , Kolkata,  South and North 24 Paraganas were reached out with the daily  essentials like food , sanitary pads and sanitization materials.
